Frank was complaining about the cold water where we were that day. I went and mouthed off that if we could handle the Atlantic Ocean in Indian Summer of October we could certainly handle a lake in British Columbia in the middle of August!
What Frank failed to mention was that the Lake is fed by run off from a melting Glacier. So, since he dared me to jump in, I stripped off right there and then (swim suit was under my tank top and jeans) and DOVE in. This photo was taken right after!
Let me tell ya something … it hurts. You feel a hot, burning sensation as you come up for air, before your body registers the extreme cold … then after the stinging sensation stops you start to shiver … and you don’t stop until the numbness sets in. All this happens in less than a minute, or that’s what it felt like anyhow …
About five or ten minutes AFTER getting out of the water the stinging started again, but I felt ‘cooled off’ all day … LOL
